Powerful moving pictures filled with emotion and wisdom push us into a dream-like reality where audience can escape from their mundane life for a while, learn lessons from heroes’ actions or get inspired by them.

People also appreciate film as an art form because it combines different artistic components like acting, music, scriptwriting and cinematography in order to tell stories which resonate in viewers mind long after they have seen the movie. This unique blend of visual language used in movies is able to show compelling stories which people generally leave great impression on audience both emotionally and intellectually.

The development of digital technology has in some ways made media convergence possible, as it has allowed for the communication of different kinds of information over a single network.

Today, streaming services allow viewers to access television and movies online while they also have access to audio books, podcasts, internet, radio and more from one platform. This is largely due to the emergence of powerful computing systems with content management capabilities that enable seamlessly integrated media experiences across multiple platforms such as mobile phones, tablets, PCs and TVs.

In addition, several newspapers are now offering their content through websites which leads consumers towards new trends in consumption habit defining how people use entertainment services today.

In fact, the digital innovation and convergence has accelerated the changes in TV viewing. Consumers now watch more TV online than ever before or simply stream content on websites like Netflix or Hulu. This means that traditional television consumption patterns are increasingly influenced by technology, with consumers embracing a range of connected devices such as laptops, tablets and mobile phones to access video-on-demand services, internet broadcast offerings and networked media players.

Consequently, we can see an increase in viewership figures but at the same time viewers have become much less loyal towards shows aired on linear TV networks. Moreover, technology is also changing how people get involved in film production and distribution.

Nowadays filmmakers no longer need big budgets for their projects since they can turn to crowdsourcing platforms or other online resources to finance their films; while many opt for digital distribution methods over cinema releases due to lower costs associated with it.

Additionally, technological improvements mean that special effects departments don’t have the same expensive equipment they used to – computer generated images (CGI) is widely used today which requires minimal hardware investment from studios compared going down the usually costlier ‘real world’ route of physical props and sets creation.

Besides, digital technology also affects the post-production of films. Nowadays, it is much easier to edit videos with powerful computer applications and software like Adobe Premiere Pro & Final Cut Pro X which makes video editing faster, more accurate and creative. Editing in the ‘digital realm’ is a more malleable form than analogue and provides new possibilities to create art from pieces of meaning full information (Hobbs 2014).

Some special effects can be generated with high speed during post-production digitally by eliminating tedious time-consuming techniques used for traditional filming or photographic technologies. This significantly shortens the production time as well as opens up many innovative ideas for filmmakers when making films (Kotler et al., 2009). Overall, digitalization brings huge changes on film industry and offers filmmakers limitless imaging options.
