Hero's Journey Narrative Essay

Since Hrothgar created the Heorot hall, it is very significant. As a child, Grendel was an unhappy monster because he was reckless and violent. In addition to killing Grendel, Beowulf was also able to kill his mother when he attacked the Heorot. In Beowulf, courage and strength are shown against monsters and supernatural creatures. The journey Beowulf goes on to makes him a hero. But what is the journey of a hero?

It’s a cycle, says Matthew Winkler. In the hero’s ordinary world, the journey begins and ends while passing through an unfamiliar, special world. According to the outline given above, could Beowulf be considered a hero?

A story’s beginnings are usually called the status quo. In the case of Beowulf, it was while he was still in Geatland. The outline of a hero begins with a call to adventure. The hero receives an invitation or challenge to adventure. When the Spear-Danes called, Beowulf decided to assist them.

As soon as he heard about Grendel’s attacks, he wanted to help the soldiers kill him. The second point of this hero’s journey is assistance. In this case, Beowulf becomes part of a military team that fights Grendel with other soldiers. Because they know how Grendel operates, they can offer him advice.
